Well, that's certainly not something we need here in Tofino......It must be horrible to live under one of those secretive, closed-door local governments where the taxpayers are treated like children or below average intelligence dolts who can't possibly ever understand the complex social and economic issues involved in municipal administration.
We are truly blessed......
Nope, don't need no auditor here.....all is well, all is under control.
Curious, Did we ever find out why that financial services lady quit, or how much her payoff was, or how much Yew Wood cost the taxpayers and who was responsible for it, or why the only guy in public works that knew anything about his job resigned?..... or the reason for the current deputy clerk's resignation?
Nope, don't need no auditor or oversight here, all is well.

It would be an interesting eye opener to have this auditor review the amount of dollars spent on legal fees over the past 5 years. Yew Wood itself would have to amount to something in the range of $100,000.00. Of course the CAO would have you believe that this was covered by insurance. Although it is true that the payout was but the cost of staff time, travel to victoria, etc, etc, and etc was absorbed by you the taxpayer.

Let us not forget that Yew Wood was not the only group party to a legal action against the District. Worst part of it all is that the District lost every time ! The most recent loss being the Rosie Bay action.

The best part is that not one councillor took any action to resolve these issues. I can't blame them since they were directed by certain staff to sit down and shut up! Instead of acting they decided it better to listen to the staff they were elected to direct. Makes sense to me.

The auditor will cringe when they look at the rates of pay in relation to qualifications. Some staff are overpaid to a ridiculous degree.
